Kira Leinonen is an American filmmaker who has been based in Beijing for the past six years. She has directed, produced and edited a number of short films and videos, in a variety of formats, from 16mm to digital 4k.
During her three years as the video producer for Greenpeace East Asia, she oversaw video production for offices across Mainland China, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan, including three ship tours in the region, and worked closely with international production teams for global campaigns. She recently worked as an associate producer on the feature length documentary Nowhere To Call Home, which premiered in 2014 the Millenium Film Festival in Brussels and has been acquired for international broadcast.
In addition to her work with The New Masters, she is currently working as an assistant editor on a CCTV-9 documentary series focused on China’s environmental future, which is scheduled for broadcast in September 2015, and a feature film slated for cinema release later in the year.
